In late 2017 HR sent me a message on our internal chat tool: “Hey Daniel, you have to sign something, can you come to our office?”

Oh, probably another random contract update I guess?

When I looked at the sheet of paper I saw a new job title: “Team Leader”.

Pop quiz: What did I feel at that time? Satisfaction? Joy? Appreciation? Wrong. I was surprised.

I didn’t know that I would be officially managing people moving forward, but as per usual, I do what I usually do: research and read as much about a topic to be prepared and not look like an imbecile.

I’m certainly not at the end of my leadership career, quite the opposite in fact. Still, I feel obligated to “give back” and share some of the hard-won insights so you don’t have to jump through the same hoops I had to jump through. I’m also aware that most people don’t enjoy reading a potentially dry 300, 500 or 800-page book on management. So at the very least, let me save you some time and share some concrete insights that have made me a more effective leader.

Is this leadership newsletter for you?

Leadership training is an intriguing topic. A 2021 study by digits in the UK reported that 1 in 4 managers (sample size of 1000~) never received any training whatsoever. I haven’t met a single person who I didn’t manage who was trained before getting promoted into a people management role - it was the same for me too.

What if I offered you all of the insights, tools and experiences I’ve learned and tried out over the years, for free? Would you be interested? Would you be skeptical?

Here’s the deal: Give it a try, there is no paid content here - everything is free. 🔥

I want you to unsubscribe if you don’t like the content or don’t find the tools and techniques useful. In that case, I’d be immensely grateful if you could share a quick message on LinkedIn, Twitter (DMs are open) or email with your feedback though. Thank you! 🙏

Stay curious! ✨
